What is Corrigendum?

Corrigendum meaning

A corrigendum is an official notice that changes or corrects a published tender, such as new dates, revised specifications or an updated BOQ.

What is a corrigendum?

A corrigendum is a formal amendment to a tender after it has been published. The buyer uses it to correct mistakes, respond to points raised at the pre-bid meeting, or change terms. The plural is corrigenda.

Once issued, a corrigendum becomes part of the tender document. Your bid is evaluated against the tender as amended, whether or not you read the change.

What a corrigendum can change

On CPPP and state e-procurement portals, corrigenda appear on the same tender page. On GeM, changes are shown on the bid page. Some buyers also publish them on their own websites.

  • Bid submission and opening dates, often extended
  • Technical specifications or scope of work
  • BOQ items or quantities
  • Eligibility and pre-qualification criteria
  • EMD, payment terms or delivery period

Tips for bidders

Check the tender page for corrigenda right up to the deadline, and once more just before you upload your bid.

Some tenders ask you to sign and upload every corrigendum with your bid as proof that you accept it.

If a corrigendum changes the BOQ, download the new BOQ file. Uploading the old one can make your bid invalid. Note any new deadline in your own calendar the same day.

A corrigendum usually corrects or changes existing terms, while an addendum adds new material. In Indian tenders the two words are often used interchangeably.

Normally before the bid deadline, often with an extension so bidders have time to respond. The tender’s amendment clause explains how the buyer issues changes.

Some tenders require a signed copy of each corrigendum. Even when they don’t, the changes still apply to your bid.
